Welcome to the Official Site of Musician Sean O'Connor
Seán O'Connor ::: ( Music Review unsigned Online Magazine ) Seán O'Connor is a singer, songwriter and a phenomenal guitarist, who first started his career in The Lookalikes in the early 80's in Dublin. They were signed to Riva Records and the band went on tour with Thin Lizzy in the UK, which they did with huge success. When the band broke up in the late 80's O'Connor moved to the U.S. and formed a new band which where also extremely popular in various clubs across the East Coast of America. It was here his reputation for being a guitarist became known and this led to him playing on and produce a number of records, with Hit Factory owner Eddie Germano. Who signed Sean directly to the studio's own label, Panama Records. Since moving back to Ireland in the late 90's he has been a solo artist and as part of the duo ONE 2 ONE. Although he regularly makes trips back to New York for session work. Seán O’Connor’s first track on his Reverbnation account “Get A Little Closer“, immediately shows his very distinctive style which can be best described as distinctly 80/90’s Irish emotive rock, similar to Thin Lizzy and Genesis . His lyrics can be best explained as being Celtic/Armageddon themes/influences particularly with “Live Till I Die” which is highly reminiscent of Genesis, while “Crazy Moon” is suggestive of dare I say Erasure? Seán’s guitar work is superb, he has truly mastered the guitar and this is highly evident in “Bullet In His Back” and “Step Into Overdrive“, he uses the guitar to the best of his expertise (which is very high) as well as his vocals and even his backing vocals. And his cover of “Still In Love With You”, which he truly makes his own while staying true to the original. Which further shows the influence of Thin Lizzy in his work. But even with all the similarities/influences Seán O’Connor has a completely unique sound entirely his own. Even though some could find it “dated” and may find it too “familiar“ due to the very 80/90‘s sound . I personally find it very refreshed and original and wholly his own and I look forward to see what Seán O’Connor creates next. Review by Eleanor White
